While I was visiting Berlin I was able to see Royal Republic rocking live inside a telephone booth. The event was presented by a local radio station. Besides the four band members a hearer was inside the box to experience the littlest concert ever.

Hamburg

Last weekend I went to Hamburg to attend the «Poplife». It was an exhibition about artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring or Takashi Murakami. Especially the latest delighted my heart and soul. His work is so colorful, so cheerful. A big Manga girl welcomed the visitors, cute toys were waiting in a glass cabinet and a funny song was playing in an infinite loop. I would have loved nothing better than to pack everything in my bag, but I guess this would have meant trouble.

So all that remained was taking some pictures and listening to that hilarious song again and again.

It was my second trip to Hamburg. I like this city a lot. I like standing at the riverbank and watching the big ships and I like the wind blowing around my nose. Since I did all the sightseeing during the first time, I had enough time to stroll around or just sit at Strand Pauli and have a beer in the sun.

But there was one thing I had to do.. and this was going back to «Miniatur Wunderland». I am not particularly interested in model railroad but this installation is so different. It is made with so much passion for detail and it is a pure joy to discover all the details. Everything has a reason and is part of a little story. I spent hours there and I am absolutely positive that I missed again more that I can imagine. If you ever will be in Hamburg a visit there is very advisable.

The flower

If you want to know what a flower is, then simply ask Frederick.

Piggeldy and Frederick were dear friends of my childhood and they were part of the daily broadcast «Sandmännchen». The story was always the same. Piggeldy had a question and asked his brother. He knew everything! The two pigs took a long walk until they had found something that could answer the question. Happily they went back and the story always ended with the same sentence “und Piggeldy ging mit Frederick nach Hause”. Well.. they went home and I went to bed :)

Wum & Wendelin

For my «project365» I took a photo of Wum & Wendelin. Immediately a lot of memories came in my mind.
When I was a little child I loved to watch «Der große Preis». I used to sit in front of the tv impatiently, already in my pyjama and ready to go to bed right after the show, waiting for the end, when those cute guys reminded everybody of the deadline for a lottery and gave their big kiss afterwards.

Monday morning

The radio of my alarm clock woke me up. It was shortly before 6 o’clock and despite the earliness I felt quite good. I listened to the news, heared that Germany received one gold medal in the Olympic Games and that the carnival revelers are looking forward to the Rose Monday parades. Ah yes, right, it is carnival and accordingly was the music they played. «Es ist so ein schöner Tag» tootled from the speakers. But I didn’t mind, I was in such a good mood!

After breakfast I went to the car and yippie, there was only snow on the windscreen and no ice. Hence I could go to work without scratching! The song on the radio must have told the truth!

But inside the car the reality caught up with me.. the tank was empty and I had to drive to the gas station. I hate nothing more than driving there in the morning because that means a detour. At the gas pump I remembered that due to an error in the central locking system the doors and also the gas cap don’t function properly. I couldn’t open it and so I quit fueling and went back home to catch my husband. Actually I intended to ride with him but as if by magic the central locking system was working now.

Back at the gas station all pumps were occupied. I chose one and the next problem occured. The woman in front of me couldn’t restart her car. Well, I drove backwards to the adjacent pump. While I was busy the woman asked me if I could help her to push away the car. Of course. When I was finished with refueling I walked around the pump, slipped on a snow rest and fell hard on my side. Ouch. The woman was a bit concerned but I bobbed up and helped her with the car.

When I finally arrived at work I had my cheerfulness back and fortunately the rest of the day spared me more surprises.
